Spending his summers as a child in the Indiana Dunes, David acquired an unmatched love for the beautiful landscape of the rolling sands. Among the people of Northwest Indiana, David became known as a great activist for the Dunes. He was strong voice for the dunes when it was threatened by corporations, the government, or pollution.

Over a period of over sixty years, he amasses an extensive collection of dunes landscapes; a collection that would later become his most well known style and period. His paintings hung in many area businesses, and were easily recognizable as a "Sander". Below you will find a few examples of his famous trademark, the dunes, along with some other examples from private collections. Simply click on the painting to see a larger image.
